The University of Memphis has released all restrictions on former Tiger Austin Nichols, meaning he is free to transfer anywhere he wants.
Word came Tuesday afternoon out of the U of M, after a report by ESPN that Nichols and his family had hired a lawyer to challenge the original, conditional release.
Nichols had been restricted from playing for another school within the AAC, or any non conference opponent on next year's schedule.
Virginia and Tennessee were also no-nos, and according to the article, UVA is one school that's heavily courting the 6'9" big man.
Nichols averaged 13.3 points and 6 rebounds last season before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
Duke, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Auburn are just a few of the other schools said to be interested in Nichols.
