MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

25 years after the murder of a Memphis liquor store owner, his suspected killer faces charges.

Police arrested Stanley Owens, 59, in October 2014. He's charged with killing Edward Askew in February 1990.

Investigators arrested Owens after a witness identified him through a scar on his leg.

The witness said Owens fought with Askew over a gun at Kay-T-Did Liquor Store on Central Avenue.

The gun went off, hitting Owens in the leg, but Owens got the gun and shot Askew, killing him. The witness told police that Owens ran from the scene with a limp.

Wednesday, the Shelby County Attorney General's Office announced a grand jury had indicted Owens on first-degree murder charges.

Owens is in the Shelby County Jail under an $800,000 bond.
