MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Mark Giannini is close to making a $3 million bond on rape charges.

A former girlfriend of Giannini said she saw warning signs decades before the arrest.

"My only concern is there are so many people that he intimidated and abused emotionally and physically," said Susan Baker.

Tuesday, a judge ruled the source of Giannini’s money that will be used for the bond is legitimate.

Baker dated Giannini when she was in graduate school, more than 20 years ago.

Baker said she saw disturbing signs. She claimed he date raped her, but she never called the police. She also said he stalked her for three years and broke into her apartment.

Giannini was never charged in those crimes.

Now, Baker said she is no longer afraid of Giannini.

"I'm clinging to my family and my faith," Baker said.

Giannini’s attorneys want to see him get out of jail.

“"It would be nice to have Mr. Giannini out of jail in order to meet with his attorneys and prepare a defense," said attorney William Massey.

A defense will likely have to bring in the salacious aspects of Giannini’s sex life and the accusations from the three woman he is charged with raping.

Giannini’s tech company that made him millions will also be at stake.

Baker said the man described as a philanthropist involved in many charities has a bad side.

“If anyone deserves to be convicted of anything, it’s him. There's so many people in Memphis he has hurt," Baker said.

Giannini’s attorney said he may not get out of 201 Poplar until next week. Everything needs to be first worked out with a bail bonding company.
