Here are some of the stories we're working on for you on WMC Action News 5:

BREAKING RIGHT NOW--Our crew is working to learn more about a Midtown fire that burned a family home overnight. A mother and two young girls were taken to the hospital in critical condition...we're expecting new details on their conditions any minute. Watch WMC Action News 5 this morning for the latest.

Police are looking for three people who fired shots in the Wolfchase Galleria parking lot Wednesday. Fortunately no one was hurt, but there are concerns about the safety of shoppers. We talk with police and look at the number of incidents Memphis Police have had in the past year.

Former President George H.W. Bush is doing OK this morning after breaking a bone in his neck. The 91-year-old fell at his summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine last night. 

Mississippi highways and your safety could be in jeopardy. Federal aid could be cut if Congress doesn't take action by the end of the month. A lot of MDOT's major projects like those on the interstate are planned with the idea that the feds will reimburse much of the cost. We'll explain the back and forth this morning.

A funeral home owner has been arrested after being accused of mishandling bodies. Many families are still not even sure of where their loved ones are located. This morning we're learning -- the cemetery could soon reopen.

The number of people without power after Tuesday's severe storms has dropped to under 1,000 this morning. We'll show you the outage map and update you on when crews should have the power back on.

In just a few weeks.. you can shop until you drop across the state of Tennessee without paying sales tax. The tax free weekend is set for August 7th through the 9th.
