MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Kroger presented the RISE Foundation with a check at the Kroger located at 3444 Plaza Avenue on Thursday.

The check is a contribution to support the foundation's ongoing work to transform the lives of low-income Memphians through financial literacy education, and to educate customers about using digital savings.

This is part of Kroger's commitment to helping the community grow and prosper.

The RISE Foundation teaches youth, adults, and senior citizens to manage their money, budget, and open checking and savings accounts as well as purchase sustainable assets that include homes, college tuition, and cars.

"Kroger's donation is a perfect example of how the generosity of the Mid-South business community can support grassroots work that has a profound impact on the lives of our citizens who are struggling financially," RISE Foundation CEO and President Linda Williams said.

Representatives from Kroger and teen volunteers from the City of Memphis' MPLOY Summer Youth Experience helped customers download digital coupons to provide additional savings on groceries.

"It's inspiring to see our young people support our work by volunteering their time," Williams said.
