It's hard enough being a lawn care working in the Memphis summer.  It's even harder when crooks try to strike.

“The guy was standing across the street like he was waiting on us to get through. Looked like he was getting ready to try to rob us," recalled lawn care worker Patrick Russell.

He said the man looking at him and his crew did try to rob them while they worked in Frayser on Friday, but he ran off when a car drove by.

“It makes me pretty angry because I work hard to try to make a living,” Russell added.

Russell and his crew were working in the Snowden area where another worker was robbed on Monday at gunpoint.

A neighbor, who does not want to be identified, saw it all from his front porch. He said he saw two guys who looked like they were around 19-years-old walk across a lawn over to the workers.

“I heard the guy that got robbed start hollering and then two guys take off running,” said the neighbor.

He went over to the victim. “He said they had guns.”

The owner of the lawn care company took off in his truck, chasing the crooks, but they ran off.

The neighbor said the crooks knew he was on his front porch but didn’t care.  “They made eye contact with me several times.”

Neighbors say the crooks got $70 and a cell phone form the lawn care worker.

Neighbor Jamie Austin said, “It upsets me because it violates the safety of the neighborhood.”
