MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Memphis man is in jail accused of exposing himself at a daycare where several kids were inside.

"I've been working in childcare for over 20 years and I've never had an experience like this before," said corporate daycare director Sharise Falkner.

Falkner told police 24-year-old Deadrick Maclin walked inside the daycare she supervises, Klassy Kids Academy, to apply for a job. He asked to use the restroom. Maclin then reportedly exposed himself to a worker.

"That was sick for him to do that because this is a building where children are being educated at," Falkner added.

Falkner said no kids were around when the incident happened, but it begs the question, how did Maclin get inside what's supposed to be a safehaven for children?

"They can come in and ask for an application and you can fill it out and turn it back in," said Falkner. "It's nothing wrong with that. They're not in the immediate area where the children are."

Falkner added that the doors are locked at all times at the daycare, and the kid's safety is extremely important to employees.

In the wake of the scary incident, Falkner said they're making some changes.

"What we're going to do now is, we won't allow the public to use the restroom," she explained.

Daycare staff may also change the way people apply for jobs at Klassy Kids Academy.

However, people who live nearby said they want to see even more done to make sure kids at all daycares are safe.

"You let this man in," said neighbor Alex Brittman. "He could have done something else, put a gun on you all, anything. Then what?"
