Fresh off his Caribbean vacation, Tony Allen has been on the camp circuit, helping area kids beat the summer heat with a little basketball practice.
The 'Grindfather' took on the coaching role at the Tony Allen Pro camp at Southwind High school Saturday morning.
TA took time out to talk with kids and show them a thing or two on the court.
Allen also weighed in on the latest moves by his team, including the biggest signing of the summer, with center Marc Gasol ready to go for the next 5 years in Memphis.
"I mean, I didn't think he would go anywhere,' said Allen. 'Anytime you got a situation like this you gotta embrace it. The city loves him. He is Memphis. I'm happy he came back. A lot of people were worried. I didn't panic, but once I saw he was coming back, I was excited."
Allen looked refreshed and ready to go next season.
He says his hamstring that forced him to the sidelines for part of the playoffs is not 100 percent just yet, but said the coming months will be spent getting back in game shape.
