Some burglars in Bartlett got away with a potentially explosive haul.

Dynamite was among the items stolen from a storage shed behind a home on North Brunswick Road.

According to Bartlett Police, burglars broke in while the owner was on vacation.

"I am totally shocked," said neighbor Jay Watson.

Watson knew there have been a few issues in the area.

"In the last few months, we've set up kind of a network,” said Watson. “Somebody's lawnmower got ripped off, somebody's bicycle here and there.”

But this kind of heist takes it to a whole new level. In addition to three sticks of dynamite, 10,000 rounds of .22 ammo was also stolen.

The owner, who did not want to talk on camera, said he used dynamite to blow up stumps and admitted his shed should have been more secure.

"Any ammunition I have or don't have is stored correctly and appropriately," said neighbor Scott Kersten.

Especially with so many children around, he added.

“You can do a lot of damage with some dynamite, to yourself as well,” said Kersten.  “Especially if it was some young kids.”

So far, Bartlett Police have no description of those who may have broken into the shed.

The owner said the dynamite did not have blasting caps, which are required to set it off.
