MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis Police are searching for two men who individually demanded money from victims withdrawing cash from an ATM.

The suspects were armed as they robbed the victims at Regions Bank in the 1000 block of North Germantown Parkway.

One of the robberies happened at 9 a.m., and the other happened around 1 p.m. Police have not said if the two are related.

The two suspects are each wanted in connection with the aggravated robberies.

The bank has now tightened their security.

“Just go inside, avoiding even the traffic,” said Cordova resident Jessica Rangel.

Security expert Marti Miller said drive-thru ATMs are an easy target for thieves.

"They don't even have to try to take it out of your pocket book,” Miller said. “The money is in your hand. It's cold hard cash, literally."

Miller said this particular bank has four weak spots: the trees, the columns, a grassy hill and several exits.

"There are four different exits in and out of this bank,” he said. “Some can take you out to Germantown. Others can take you out to Macon Road."

The suspects could also easily hide behind the tree, behind the hill or behind the columns and then pounce.

"In the day, you wouldn't really expect it," Rangel said.

Yet, both robberies occurred in broad daylight.

"We're too relaxed when it comes to daylight,” Miller said. “You can be robbed. You can be killed in the daylight hours, just like you can at night."

Miller said you should get away if you can, and your life is the most important thing.

"Even if they're armed and you think they're going to shoot you, it's harder to hit a moving target,” he said. “Put your foot on the gas and get gone. If it comes down to the gun is at your head, nothing is worth your life. Give them the money."

If you have any information or can help identify the men, please call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
