MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is on the run after breaking into the Family Dollar on S. 3rd Street.

Memphis police said they arrived at the store located in Westwood and saw the man breaking into the side of the building.

He noticed the officers and ran off into the woods.

Kenneth Brewer owns the In-N-Out Bait and Tackle, just down the street from the Family Dollar.

He said two weeks ago, someone broke into his store.

"It's very sad. This is my livelihood. I support my mom, my kids with this business. They stole about $500-1,000 worth of merchandise," Brewer said.

Brewer added that police weren't able to get surveillance video from his business because the power was cut.

"They came in through the back wall and before that they cut the phone line and cut the power meter so my alarm wouldn't send a signal to the alarm company," Brewer explained.

Brewer has lived and worked in the Westwood community about 30 years. He said he refuses to let thieves push him out.

"I've got cameras now, motion sensors, everything you need to protect me, my family and my business."

Brewer said Memphis police got a partial fingerprint on the man who burglarized his store earlier in July. If it's the same guy who tried to break into the Family Dollar, Brewer hopes officers can bring his crime spree to an end soon.
