MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Catholic Charities partnered with the Mid-South Food Bank and volunteers from International Paper to distribute food to 350 families in the Whitehaven community.

The event took place at Saint Paul School on Thursday.

“Approximately four times each year we join together with the Mid-South Food Bank and a corporate partner to visit a food-insecure part of our community for one of these large scale food distributions,” President and CEO of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee Mike Allen said.

The families received bags of fresh produce, meats, and other food items.

"It is quite an operation and we cannot do it without volunteers and corporate partners like International Paper," Allen said.

With the assistance of volunteers from International Paper, the event was a success.

Catholic Charities of West Tennessee is the social services arm of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. It is one of the largest nonprofit, multi-social service providers in the Mid-South with special emphasis in the areas of homelessness, children’s programming, immigration services, veteran’s services and emergency services.
