Visitors to the Memphis International Airport can now use Uber to get to and from the airport, following an agreement with the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority.

In the past, Uber drivers haven’t been legally allowed to pick-up or drop-off flyers because it violated a law. But a new passage in the Transportation Network Company Services Act set requirements for ride-sharing and provided a permanent way to regulate and govern companies like Uber.

“We are excited to have reached an agreement with a service as popular as Uber,” said Scott Brockman, MSCAA President and CEO, in a written statement. “From day one, we have been open to doing business with Uber, primarily because our passengers have told us they want the option of utilizing ride-sharing services.”

“It’s great that residents and visitors alike can land at Memphis International Airport, and know that a safe, reliable ride is just a few taps or clicks away,” said Billy Guernier, General Manager, Regional Expansion at Uber, in a written statement. “We are thrilled we reached an agreement with the MSCAA and look forward to a long-term relationship.”

The agreement will allow $2 per pickup for the airport at the baggage level.

The airport also reached an agreement with the ride-sharing company, Lyft, in June.
