MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police questioned and released the man who witnessed the shooting of 33-year-old officer Sean Bolton.

Director Toney Armstrong described what happened to officer Bolton during a press conference Sunday.

He said the officer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran was shot when he conducted a traffic stop, which happened to interrupt a drug deal.

Armstrong said the passenger in the car got out, pulled a gun on officer Bolton, and shot him several times before running away.

The driver in the car later turned himself in to police. After questioning him, MPD officers let the man go.

Police then identified Tremaine Wilbourn, 29, as the passenger who shot officer Bolton. Anyone with information about Wilbourn's whereabouts should call 901-528-CASH. Memphis City Council and the U.S. Marshals Office are offering $10,000 for information that leads to Wilbourn's arrest.
