MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The staff at McAlister's Deli on Trinity did something very special to honor Officer Sean Bolton, who was killed Saturday during a traffic stop.

Sunday, the staff reserved a table for him and placed a full glass of sweet tea on the table.

A customer, Hayley Parker, posted a photo of the gesture on Facebook and it's been shared thousands of times since.

By Monday, the reserved spot was taken down, but the meaning behind it remained. McAlister's didn't want to dishonor the family of Officer Bolton inadvertently by giving interviews so instead the owner, David Blackburn, released this statement:

"Officer Bolton was one of many guests that dine with us so often, the staff and managers know them by name and they become our friends and even part of our extended family. We appreciate the contributions Officer Bolton made to our community and also his contribution of being a good neighbor. I speak for our guests, staff and managers who were so fond of him, we will miss him dearly and our hearts go out to his family and friends."
