MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

One family is likely very happy that Tremaine Wilbourn is in custody.

Jesus Nabarette and his family were not at home when Officer Sean Bolton was shot after a traffic stop on Summerlane Avenue in Parkway Village.

"First thing we saw was blood on the floor and we were shocked what happened,” Nabarette said. “Then we saw the mailbox with a big bullet hole."

A light fixture on the house next door had broken glass from a bullet as well. There is a memorial next to Nabarette’s driveway where Bolton was discovered by neighbors who heard five shots.

"We heard an officer was shot in the front of our house,” Nabarette said. “My mom had met the officer like three days before the incident.”

"He's very nice person,” said Nabarette’s mother, Elena McDonald. “He speaks Spanish. He look very nice. And this is terrible."

McDonald said the loss of Sean Bolton is a terrible loss. She has a large family and felt protected by the officer who patrolled the neighborhood.

"I'm scared. Yesterday, I didn't sleep. I think he's in this area."

Now that Wilbourn is in custody, hopefully McDonald will be able to sleep well tonight.
