MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Nick Harmeier is still trying to make sense of the situation after he lost a high school friend so tragically.

“I’m just ashamed,” Harmeier said. “I'm at a loss of words about what to say to do something like that.”

Harmeier and Bolton went to White Station High School together and were both on the wrestling team.

Police said Tremine Wilbourn is the man who shot and killed Bolton during a traffic stop. Bolton’s friend had some words for Wilbourn, who is now in police custody.

“It’s already bad enough to take a life, but you take a life by someone out here protecting,” Harmeier said. “I'm sure what a lot of us would like to call him, we can't say on TV. But he's a scum. He's a rat.”

Harmeier still has fold memories of Bolton and their high school days. He said Bolton was even his first customer at his new restaurant, which recently opened on Poplar Avenue.

“Super guy. I can't stress out enough that this guy was top notch.”
