Editorial by WMC Action News 5 General Manager Tracey Rogers:

I didn't know Memphis police officer Sean Bolton personally. But when he was killed over the weekend, his death shook me to the core.

There's just something sobering about a police officer, a firefighter, a public servant losing their life in the line of duty.

I watched Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong fight emotions and stand strong for his department yet again as he spoke about Officer Bolton's death.

One thing Director Armstrong said keeps reading in my ears-- he said there's a theme, 'Black Lives Matter,' but he emphasized 'All Lives Matter.'

Can we just stop tearing each other down, stop spewing hate, stop blaming everyone else because of the color of their skin or the status of their pocket book and focus on lifting up Officer Bolton's family and seeking justice for his death?

Thank you, Director Armstrong, for reminding us what's really important right now-- All Lives Matter.

Let's follow the director's lead and find value in all human lives. That will help make this A Better Mid-South.
