Bartlett Police Department swears in new officers

BARTLETT, TN (WMC) -

Bartlett Police Department held its swearing in ceremony Friday.

Matthew Weibel, William Clark, Vernon Cavitt, and Chase Pegram were sworn in as new officers.

The ceremony was held at Bartlett's City Hall with Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald and Chief Gary Rikard.

During the ceremony, Mayor McDonald gave the new officers an oath of office, and Chief Rikard gave them badges, an oath of honor and a challenge coin with the oath printed on it.

Family members were able to take part in the ceremony. Vernon Cavitt's 97-year-old grandmother pinned him.

The officers are not set to start their patrols until after they finish their training.
