5 great things that happened in the Mid-South this week


It's been a hard week in Memphis, but the Mid-South has still come together to find the high points.

1. Sea of Blue honors Officer Sean Bolton

Thousands of officers from around the country joined together, turning on their blue lights in a procession around Memphis to honor Memphis police officer Sean Bolton.

"Sean serves our city and he served our country," said Heather Pheil, the wife of a Memphis police officer.

2. Kroger Marketplace in Hernando

Officials broke ground on the largest Kroger store in the Mid-South.  The new store in Hernando will offer a variety of goods, including clothing.

3. One million Bass Pro Pyramid visitors

More than a million visitors have been to the Pyramid since Bass Pro Shops opened in April. 

"I think it's the best thing that ever happened to Memphis," said Memphian Donna Brown. "I really do."

4. Greenline extension approved

The Shelby Farms Greenline is about to get a bit longer

Once completed, the trail will be the longest continuous trail in Shelby County.

5. Mo's Bows at the White House

President Obama got a special birthday present from a young Memphis entrepreneur.

Thirteen-year-old Moziah Bridges gave Obama a blue bowtie for his 54th birthday.

Bridges, the brain behind Mo's Bows, went to Washington for the first White House Demo Day.
