The road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio will start in Memphis for the best women boxers in the United States.
The U.S. Olympic Women's Boxing Team trials will start on October 25 at the Cook Convention Center.
Ginny Fuchs is one of the top boxers competing for a spot on the team. Fuchs, a Houston native, was a cross country runner at LSU, but switched sports when she heard women's boxing was added to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Fuchs made it all the way to the semifinals in the trials for the 2012 Olympics before losing. She then rededicated herself to make the 2016 games.
So far, her chances look good. She's the 2015 Golden Gloves Champion and the number two contender in her weight class.
Congressman Steve Cohen is the honorary captain of the U.S. Olympic Team, but he said there is no way he is getting into the ring.
The U.S. Men's tryouts will be held in conjunction with the event.
Tickets go on sale Friday, August 14 at 10 a.m.
