MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Memphis police officer was relieved of duty after he was arrested Thursday night.

According to police, 34-year-old Joshua McCann is off the job pending the outcome of an ongoing criminal investigation.

The Shelby County District Attorney General's Office said that Humboldt, TN investigators arrested McCann Thursday night. McCann was wearing a Memphis Police Department t-shirt when he reportedly met with an undercover West Tennessee Drug Task Force agent posing as a pill dealer.

According to SCDAG, McCann bought 38 hydrocodone tablets for $120. Investigators arrested McCann immediately afterwards while he stood in line at the gas station in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Agents said they found all of the hydrocodone pills, along with a set of digital scales, a bullet proof vest, and a loaded semi-automatic handgun in McCann's car.

McCann was released from the Gibson County jail on a $30 thousand bond. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intention to sell, possession of a handgun during a dangerous felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McCann has been with the Memphis Police Department since April 2013.
