The biopic about one of the world's most groundbreaking groups, ‘Straight Outta Compton’, is bringing out more police patrols around local movie theatres.

The movie chronicles the rise of rap group NWA and also takes a look at race relations in America during this time period.

Opening night, due to some violent lyrics and content, local police decided to beef up patrols.

Locally, both Collierville and Olive Branch Police departments confirmed they increased patrols around local theatres.

Bartlett is not beefing up patrols, while Memphis Police said they were aware of the movie's release and will be monitoring theatres this weekend.

"With all the police violence happening across the nation it might be relevant to some extent," movie goer Fernando McDougle said.

Some movie goers said heightened police presence is not a bad thing, while others question why this movie is soliciting the extra patrols.

"I think fear is something people use to just control things," Levaughn Alexander said.

Levaughn Alexander said the movie was a thrilling experience, but not a violent one. He added that he doubts this movie will inspire violence or criminal activity.

"It was great to see visual art," Alexander added.

The movie is expected to bring in around $50 million in just the opening weekend.
