MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is charged after the stabbing death of a 34-year-old woman in the 3400 block of Birdsong Ferry Road Saturday.

Family identified the victim as 34-year-old Yolunda Bolton.

Police later identified Bolton's ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Danterio Perkins, as the man who stabbed and killed her.

"I found my mama laying right here," said Bolton's 15-year-old son Jerrod.

Initially, police were responding to a shooting call.

"Blood was everywhere, you can still see the little prints of blood," Jerrod said.

Investigators said when they arrived, they found Bolton lying on the porch with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bolton was a 34-year-old mother of two. Relatives said she had gotten off work from her job at Sonic and was talking on the porch with a man when she was attacked.

"I feel... I feel mad," said Jerrod Bolton. "I feel like I really need to cry, but I've done all the tear shedding I'm going to do for a couple of days."

Relatives said Yolunda had been separated from her boyfriend for several months. They described the relationship as volatile and said Yolunda had filed an order of protection against her ex because of physical and verbal intimidation.

"I'm still in shock, said cousin Felicia Pigues. "I really don't believe it. After seeing the body, it's a feeling that I really can't explain."

Police took Perkins into custody. He is charged with first-degree murder.

"I heard my mama saying stop and her ex in the background saying something, I don't know what it was," Jerrod said.

20 minutes later, he opened the door and found his mother's body.
