(WMC) -

A terrible motorcycle crash left a 52-year-old rider in critical condition late Saturday night in Memphis. It is at least the 5th really bad motorcycle crash in the Mid-South in less than a week.

It happened at Crestridge and Waterview. Family friends identify the rider as Philip Jolly, Sr. His wife Lucia was following him when he went into a curve and hit the curb, losing control. His silver 2003 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail went airborne and Jolly hit his head on a wrought iron fence. Family friend Sharon Walker messaged me on Facebook saying "He came out of surgery today, one of many to come. His surgery today was for his broken jaw and eye socket and the plastic surgeon put his left side of his face back together basically, with more plastic surgery to come. He has two broken vertebrae, 10 broken ribs, broke his femur on his right side and is in traction with that for now. He also a collapsed lung. They will know more about any other injuries later this week. He has a lot of family and friends praying for him and we are all thankful that he is not dead. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers it will be a long long road to recovery but he is a stubborn, strong-willed man."

This is just the latest really bad motorcycle accident in the past week. We've lost four riders to crashes in less than 7 days, including a crash Friday in Southaven where a motorcycle crashed head on into a truck and both vehicles burst into flames.

Earlier Friday morning, another biker was killed in the 3100 block of Summer Avenue.

Thursday, police say a man riding a Yamaha R6 sport bike was speeding and weaving through traffic on Shelby Drive between Calloway Hills Drive and Ridge Walk Lane when he jumped from his bike to avoid a crash, only to slam into the side of a woman's car.  Jonathan Ferguson, 28, of Memphis was pronounced dead at Methodist Germantown a short time later.

Early Thursday morning, about 2:15, Dalton C. Millican, 22, of Drummonds died when he crashed his black Harley Davidson in the 8500 block of Quito Road in Millington. CPR was given, but driver died at the scene. The Sheriff's office said from evidence on scene, it appears Millican was traveling north bound on Quito Road and was attempting to negotiate a left curve just south of Chambers Rd. but locked his brakes and went off the roadway, hitting a tree.
