MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Traffic could be difficult for people driving in Downtown Memphis in August.

The City of Memphis said it is closing certain roads for sewer repair work as well as new pavement installation.

First on Monday, August 17, G.E. Patterson Avenue between St. Martin Street and South Second Street will be completely closed. Construction crews will be making sewer repairs in the area.

The G.E. Patterson closure will last through Tuesday at 4 p.m.

At the same time, southbound traffic will not be allowed on South Second Street between St. Martin Street and St. Paul Avenue.

Also starting Monday morning, crews will begin phase three of a project to repave areas between Downtown Memphis trolley tracks.

From Monday morning until Thursday at 10 p.m., South Main Street between Dr. MLK Jr. Avenue and Peabody Place (as well as the intersection of Vance Avenue at South Main Street) will be closed.

Phase four of the trolley track paving process happens August 24-28 at G.E. Patterson Avenue. More details will be available closer to the construction date.
