After being stalked by her ex-boyfriend, Yolunda Bolton was killed in front of her house Saturday morning.

Family members said just a day before her murder, Danterio Perkins, 27, drove his ice cream truck up and down Bolton's block.

Police later identified Perkins as the man who killed Bolton.

“He drives an ice cream truck; he did two rounds yesterday coming through here selling ice cream,” Yolunda's son Jerrod Bolton said.

15-year-old Bolton knew his mother's ex-boyfriend was trouble.

“She was tired of him, because he was stealing her money. She didn’t like that, so she got out of it. But he wanted her back, and she didn’t want him to come back. So he did what he did,” Jerrod said.

He never imagined the ice cream truck driver would be in jail, charged with stabbing his mother to death. Jerrod found his mother on their front porch early Saturday morning.

He said a few minutes before he found her, he heard her tell someone to stop.

“But I didn’t think anything of it. I thought she was playing, but she wasn’t,” Jerrod said.

Family members said she just filed a restraining order against Perkins, but court documents do not reflect that information. Plus, there haven’t been any restraining order violations filed against Perkins.

Family members said they are at least happy police arrested Perkins, so he cannot threaten Bolton’s kids.

“I’m still in shock. I really don’t believe it. It’s a feeling I can’t explain,” said Felicia Pigus, Bolton’s cousin.

“I just want my mom to rest in peace," Jerrod said.

Perkins remains in jail with no bond set. He is expected to appear in court on August 18.
