Valero donates $365k to Memphis children's charities

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Valero oil refinery in Memphis is donating $365,000 to Memphis children's charities.

All the money comes from funds raised by sponsoring the 2015 Valero Texas Open, a PGA event in San Antonio, Texas.

Valero said the event is one of the most charitable tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule. This year, they raised $10.5 million to distribute to children's charities across the country.

The charities that receive money from the donations are all nominated and selected by Valero employees. This year's recipients in the Mid-South are as follows: 

  • Agape Child & Family Services
  • Ballet on Wheels
  • Bodine of Germantown
  • Creative Life Inc.
  • Exchange Club of the Mid-South
  • Go Lucy Go
  • Hattiloo Theatre
  • Health Watch Urban Ministry, Inc.
  • Helping Hands Community Outreach
  • Junior Achievement of Memphis
  • Knowledge Quest
  • Memphis Child Advocacy Center
  • Memphis Oral School for the Deaf
  • The Renewal Center Community Development Center
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Sacred Heart Southern Missions
  • St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
  • Shelby Residential and Vocational Services
  • Westwood Youth Development
