MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis police officers stopped chasing a vehicle, occupied by three armed robbery suspects.

The chase initially made its way down Interstate 40 to Hollywood Street, then southbound on Hollywood Street to Jackson Avenue. That is where police called off the chase.

After officers called off the chase, they were alerted to a crash at Central Avenue and Haynes Street. A driver hit a pole and had to be taken to the hospital.

It is unclear whether this crash is related to the three robbery suspects involved in the chase.

Officers were told that an abandoned vehicle matching the description of the suspects' car was located in the 2000 block of Robin Road.

Officers have two people detained. One suspect remains on the run.

People who live in Chicasaw Gardens said that may have been the worst neighborhood to get away from police. That’s because there isn’t a street that goes through to Poplar and they have 24 hour security.

“Not an easy way to find your way out of if you don’t know where you’re going and yes, 24 hours patrol,” said John Baker.

Police haven’t said for sure if the crash on Central Avenue was a result of the chase or if it was a separate incident.  No charges have been filed.
