“It’s very frightening."

That's what Midtown resident Quenton Williams had to say after learning about several dumpster fires near Midtown businesses.

"I’m a Midtowner for the longest time, and I would hate for this to escalate to something.”

It is already bad enough. At least four dumpsters have caught fire behind businesses on Union Avenue near Belvedere Boulevard.

Friday workers were out fixing the electrical panels that burned when one of the dumpsters caught fire. There is new paint on the walls as well.

Baskin Robbins lost power for almost a full day. Two coolers of ice cream had to be scrapped.

A pizza and wing restaurant is closed along with Massage Envy.

Dunkin Donuts also had to clean up after a dumpster fire near the business. The fence around it burned to the ground.

Most business owners and employees would not talk about the fires.

One general manager, who did not want to give us his name because he feared retaliation in the form of another fire, said it's a very scary time for business owners in Midtown.

He said he now locks his dumpster, and he moved it farther away from his building.

Memphis fire investigators said they are actively investigating the fires.
