MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Family members of Ronnie and Laura Winborn are asking for help to find the person who shot and killed their loved ones.

"The worst had happened," said Ronald Winborn, Ronnie's father. "Not just it would be different if they were shot or injured but they were wiped out with one stroke. It's hard to take."

Police were called to the home Friday night when a neighbor said two people were shot. Laura and Ronnie Winborn were found shot and killed in the home. Ronnie's children, ages 3 and 5, found them not breathing and ran to a neighbor for help.

"They just kept saying their nana and their father is dead and they are scared because they feel like whoever did it is coming for them," a neighbor said.

Family members said Laura was a sweet woman who took in many of Ronnie's friends when they needed help. They said Ronnie worked tirelessly for his two children and they cannot understand how this could happen.

Now, they just want anyone with information about the murder to come forward.

"What if this was your child?" asked cousin Mary McCay. "What if this was your mother, son, family? You would want someone to come forward."

Friends of the Winborns held a vigil at 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.

If you know anything about the double homicide, please call Crime Stoppers at (901)528-CASH.
