BLYTHEVILLE, AR (WMC/ KAIT) - Officials are investigating what they called 'terroristic threats' at a Mid-South prep school.

Parents of KIPP Delta Public School in Blytheville received letters explaining recent gang activity.

In the letter, the school told parents that one student hit another and was asked not to return to campus. At that point, administrators realized there was a bigger problem at hand-- the expelled teen also sent threatening text messages to other students.

Officials believe the incident may be gang related, and School Director Maisie Wright believes the case may be connected to a shooting that happened during summer break.

"These things are happening and unfortunately, our kids are being exposed to them, and so we have to continue to work and work even harder to make sure they are not things that are a part of our kids lives and realities."

Wright said the school will keep teaching students to respect the campus and the community.

Police and the school are each conducting their own investigation into the threats.
