MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Zoo is holding a naming contest for its new red panda cub.

The boy cub was born June 3 and is the newest edition next to Cat Country.

While the unnamed cub is being mother-reared onsite at the red panda night house, the zoo is asking the community to name him.

The contest began Friday, August 28 at noon.

There are three phases to the contest.

Phase one (August 28 - Sept 8) is the name submission phase. You can submit names by clicking here.

Phase two (Sept. 10 - 18) is the voting period.

The name reveal, phase three, is Sept. 29. A red panda naming party will coincide with International Panda Day.

The zoo is excited about its new edition.
