5 great things: cheesecakes, kid chef, tackling truancy

This week, Memphis enjoyed mild temperatures and a lot of good news!

RIDE TO A JOB INTERVIEW

This 19-year-old landed a job on the spot at Central BBQ.  A complete stranger offered to give Ladarrius Gilmore a ride, when he saw him walking in a tie and carrying his dress shoes. The random act of kindness has been trending all over social media.

SNEAK PEEK INSIDE THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY

Memphis got the first look inside the new cheesecake factory. The restaurant opens September 1 at the Wolfchase Galleria in Cordova.

SCS TACKLES TRUANCY

Shelby County Schools are teaming up with the Memphis Grizzlies and city leaders to prevent truancy.The Grizz will give away game tickets and make surprise visits to schools with high attendance.

4-YEAR-OLD CHEF

A 4-year-old little girl ran the kitchen at Babalu as a fundraiser for her fight against leukemia.

GOING OVER THE EDGE

WMC Action News 5's own Carrie Anderson took the plunge, rappelling 30 stories down the One Commerce Square.  Money raised from this tall order benefits Special Olympics Greater Memphis.
