MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Two men are in jail for the robbery of a convenience store in East Memphis Tuesday.

According to police, Issac King and Courtney Ford walked into a Circle K convenience store in the 8000 block of Winchester Road. The men pointed guns at the clerk and stole nearly $7,000 worth of cigarettes and cash from the register and safe.

Investigators said at one point the clerk tried to get away, but King grabbed him and forced him to stay.

When officers arrived, King and Ford jumped into a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove away. Investigators said Ford jumped out the car and was arrested. King crashed the car near Kirby and Quince roads.

King and Ford are both charged with theft of property. King is also charged with kidnapping and evading arrest after he led police on a chase, and threatened the store clerk.

Both men are expected in court Wednesday.
