Trial date set for MSU couple trying to join ISIS

COLUMBUS, MS (WMC) -

A federal grand jury indicted two former Mississippi State students accused of trying to join ISIS.

Jaelyn Young,19, of Vicksburg and Muhammad Dakhlalla, 22, of Starksville were arrested at Golden Triangle Airport in August.

The two are charged with allegedly conspiring and attempting to provide support to a foreign terrorist organization. Prosecutors said the former MSU students planned to catch an overseas flight to join the terror group.

Bond was denied for the couple, and they both were placed in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Young was a sophomore chemistry major at MSU and Dakhlalla recently graduated with a psychology degree in May.

The couple's trial is set for October 26 at the U.S. District Courthouse in Aberdeen.
