Two principals were honored for their years of service

Two Mid-South principals who spent more than seven decades molding young minds at Magnolia Elementary school were honored Thursday. Former Magnolia Elementary principal Miss Harry Mae Simon and current principal Jacqueline Sales were both honored for their years of dedication. Magnolia alumni, faculty and students presented Simon and Sales with self portraits. The educators were honored as the school celebrated Black History Month. Jacqueline Sales, Magnolia Elementary Principal said, "What gratifies me the most is when I see the children after they become adults because we don't know our product really until they become adults productive citizens." Sales has worked in Memphis City Schools for 40 years. She's been principal at Magnolia for 25. Sales took over after Simon retired. Simon was principal there for 36 years.
