This year's Delta Fair and Music Festival kicked off at the Agricenter this weekend with livestock shows, MMA fights and enough musical talent to fill 10 concert stages.

Organizers of the 10-day event said they are going all out to make the fair a fun and safe experience.

"We have a great security team; we have police walking the fair. It's a wonderful place to come; its very safe," Barbara Butler said.

This is Butler's second year working at the fair's Lost Kids tent, located at the entrance. She said she hasn't had to deal with any lost kids, but last year was a different story.

"They had someone that was lost and it took a few hours for them to locate their parents, and that's what this tent is all about," she said.

Sheriff's deputies are also patrolling and help lost children search for their parents.

"Many of them get separated with the crowd that's here and they need a safe haven, somewhere to go," Paige Null said.

Organizers said senior citizens are also welcome to stop by the tent, get a cool drink or just take a few minutes to rest.
