MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A woman was shot and killed in the Levi Landings neighborhood early Monday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Crillion Drive.

Witnesses said the 33-year-old woman was shot in the head and taken to the hospital, where she died.

The victim's sister said she had just come home from the casino. She was working on her truck when two men approached her and shot her.

"All I know is my sister is gone," the victim's sister, Lakita Malone, said. "My sister has five kids that she is leaving by themselves. And whoever out there did that, turn y'all self in or do something, because that's not right."

Lakita said her sister's name is Katrina Malone.

“They just leaving our family in a lot of pain,” the victim’s niece, Onisha Malone, said. “We are only asking like why. Why did you all do it?”

What was supposed to be a day of barbeque and family fun for Labor Day was cut short Monday morning.

“Whoever it was got out of their truck, shot her in her face, then shot her multiple times in her chest,” Katrina's best friend, Ruthy Miller, said.

Family members said she went to the casino with one of her child's fathers. One the way home, the two argued.

“She said when she won money, she would give him something, but when he won money, he did not do her like she did him,” Lakita Malone said.

Investigators have not named any suspects in the murder.

“Whoever it is, out of the kindness of our hearts, out of hurt, the hurt that we have, turn yourself in,” Onisha Malone said.

The apartment complex is gated and usually locked, so it is unclear how the shooter got inside.
