The hot, sticky morning didn't stop a group of Mid-Southerners racing for a good cause.

"Little bit warmer than I thought," said Barry Weickert. "Definitely feel it on the uphills but overall not too bad, nice day."

Barry and his brother Matt made the Chick-Fil-A 5k a part of their Labor Day, checking out Memphis landmarks as they got their blood pumping. For the last 13 years, the Chick-Fil-A 5K has brought a lot of pep and spirit to Labor Day mornings, all for a good cause.

"Got to run around the river and see the bridge, see the pyramid in the distance, and then of course right down the hill and the finish right here at AutoZone Park," said Matt Weickert. "Really fun running around the field where the players stood. That's a very unique thing about this race."

The Chick-Fil-A 5K benefits Junior Achievement, an organization that teaches students about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy.

"We're trying to do positive things and keep our health up," said runner Shirley Carpenter.

Race organizers said they're already thinking about next year's race.
