MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Fallen Memphis police officer Sean Bolton's family sat in the front row of a church as hundreds of people around them prayed for local law enforcement.

The "Show of Support" event held at Calvary Church was designed to help stop violence toward police officers.

"That the mentality of malice would stop," Calvary Church Lead Pastor Lynn Holmes explained when asked about her hopes for the event.

Prayer circles not only touched officers in attendance, but also officer Bolton's mother, Jean Bolton.

"Most of the time I'm good, but I do have bad times," Jean Bolton said.

She said events like the Show of Support help her through the grieving process.

"It's wonderful," Jean Bolton explained. "I need all this support and love and prayers."

Everyone who attended the event walked away with a prayer stone. It serves as a reminder to pray for the end of violence toward law enforcement.

Meanwhile, Jean said her son is a reminder that police officers are people who do a dangerous, but extraordinary job.

"They protect the laws, but they look out for people," she said. "They care about people."
