MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

It has been almost two weeks since investigators traveled to Seattle to talk with a 26-year-old man who accused former city official Robert Lipscomb of sexual abuse.

“Once it goes into the investigative stage you don’t want to say anything to give the impression I’m pushing it one way or the other,” Memphis Mayor AC Wharton said.

The victim told investigators that his interactions with Lipscomb started when he was just 16 years old.

The city administration initially came out with strong comments that appeared to indict Lipscomb.

Days after the news broke, city CAO Jack Sammons said, “As a government official and as a father, this is sickening to me. The thought of someone who engages in this type of behavior against young defenseless people is abhorrent to my core.”

City officials said nine people have come forward accusing Lipscomb, but according to sources, only four of the nine have actually filed reports with police.

"Four people we have been told have filed reports," Armstrong confirmed. "Initially the information was that there were nine altogether. We're not making any comments on the Lipscomb case."

“We wanted  to make sure the public knew what was being investigated, and then the results will come out," Wharton added.

Robert Lipscomb maintains that he is innocent. He has not been charged with any crimes at this time.
