MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Police are looking for a man accused of snatching a purse off of a woman's passenger seat.

"It's one of those things you think, 'I can't believe that really happened,' and you don't notice a thing," said the victim, who did not want to release her identity.

She said she was pumping gas at a gas station in Poplar Plaza on Sunday when her purse was stolen. She explained that the man walked up to her car, opened her passenger side door, stole her purse and took off.

"I got out and was thinking, 'did I knock it out? Did I drop it?'" the victim reflected.

Police said the man drove off in a black Mercedes after the theft. The woman's cell phone, driver's license and keys to her office were inside her purse.

"My car was not locked," the victim added. "He just pulled up beside it, reached in and was gone."

That's the mistake this victim said she made. She now has advice for others.

"Definitely always lock my car when I pull up to the gas station," said the victim. "I guess be a little more aware of your surroundings."
