PONOTOC COUNTY, MS (WMC) -

An Amish man died when a silver pickup truck crashed into the back of his horse-drawn buggy.

The man, Joseph Hostetler, 26, and his family were riding along Highway 6 west of Pontotoc County, Mississippi, on Saturday morning when the truck rear ended them.

Hostetler suffered a fatal head wound, his wife remained at North Mississippi Medical Center as of Sunday night, and their 2-year-old child was recently released from Le Bonheur Children's Hospital with a clean bill of health.

All three lived in Randolph, a small community in Pontotoc County. It's reportedly the only large Amish community in the South.

The driver of the silver pickup was not injured, but the horse died.
