A 16-year-old at Carver High School said she was sexually assaulted at school.

Police said she is okay, but the claims have students and parents in shock.

“That's very disturbing to hear something like that,” said Carver High alumni Jessica Moore. “It makes me very angry.”

The allegations came Monday morning at the South Memphis school.

“It makes me feel really bad, because it could have been anyone's daughter. It could have been my granddaughters,” said Lee Mandrum, who has grandchildren that go to the school.

Detective showed up at the school and were seen carrying notebooks. Crime scene investigators also showed up and were seen carrying cameras, notebooks and flashlights, searching for evidence.

“Knowing that I have a young daughter and by me staying in this neighborhood, she might have to come to this school,” Moore said.

Moore graduated in 2008 from Carver High and has a 10-month-old daughter.

“That doesn't sit well with me,” she said.

Shelby County Schools released a statement about the allegations:

"These are very serious allegations and we have contacted the proper authorities. This is still very early in the investigation. No details are available."

Police are still investigating. No one has been charged yet.
