Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Action News 5 general manager:
As Jim Strickland prepares to transition into the mayor's office in Memphis, there is a spotlight on who will lead the Memphis Police Department since crime is a major issue in our community.
I was impressed with the way Strickland answered the question when asked if he would fire Police Director Toney Armstrong.
He responded by saying it's too early to tell. You know violent crime is more than the police department.
I suppose you could say that is a political response, but I choose to believe Mayor Elect Strickland is looking at the big picture.
Getting tough on crime in Memphis will make this a better Mid-South.
