MOSCOW, TN (WMC) - A woman is charged with killing her husband while three children were in the home.
Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene after Charis L. Jetton called 911 and confessed to shooting her husband.
Deputies arrested Jetton and entered the Moscow home, at which point they found Jack S. Jetton lying on the kitchen floor. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Three children, 2, 3, and 12 years old respectively, were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Charis Jetton said she was arguing and fighting with Jack Jetton before she shot him in the chest.
Charis Jetton was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after shooting her husband. She said the injuries were the result of the fight she had with him prior to shooting him.
Charis Jetton is charged with second-degree murder.
Grant Hatton said he rented a home to the couple for more than two years in Bolivar. He said the rental ended when Charis became violent.
In August, Charis was charged with aggravated burglary and assault from the Hardeman County Sheriff's Department.
"I was laying on my couch and her kid kicked in my door. Next thing I know, she's running through the door ripping my shirt off and beating me," Hatton said.
He said this is not the first altercation he had with Charis. He filed a restraining order and evicted the couple.
"I had to make sure my family and my house were protected," Hatton said.
After hearing about Jack's death, he said he is doing nothing but praying for the children.
"The children didn't deserve this," Hatton said. "I feel very, very sad for the kids. Jack Jetton did not deserve to lose his life. He always said he wanted to give his kids what he never had."
Charis was also arrested in Hardeman County for vandalism in April 2014.
Charis is in the Fayette County Jail and is due in court on December 21.
