MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Giants little league football team is hoping to raise donations after losing one of their own.

Treston Harris, 11, was killed after falling from a car in January.

Police said Harris was sitting on the trunk of a car. The 19-year-old behind the wheel told investigators he did not know the child was on the trunk when he took off.

Police said Harris was thrown to the pavement “head on.”

The incident is being considered an accident.

A GoFundMe account has now been created.

"Harris suffered severe brain damage and was unable to recover from his injuries," the Memphis Giants said. "Unfortunately, his parents do not have life insurance for him, so this account is being set up to help cover medical expenses as well as funeral costs."
