MATA wants public input on proposed bus route changes

The Memphis Area Transit Authority wants to hear what you have to say about the more than two dozen proposed bus route changes happening later this year.

Starting May 1, MATA plans to eliminate two current bus routes, add six bus routes, and adjust schedules for 17 existing bus routes.

MATA representatives will be on hand to talk about the changes Tuesday, February 9, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Memphis Central Library at 3030 Poplar Avenue. It will be an open house format with MATA representatives on hand to provide information, accept comments, and discuss individual concerns.

If you can't make that meeting, there will be a second public meeting Thursday, February 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. inside the Community Room at the Hickory Ridge Mall at 6075 Winchester Road.

A formal hearing will be held at Central Station at 545 South Main Street on Tuesday, March 1 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a formal presentation of proposed service changes, incorporating comments and input from previous meetings.

MATA's Board of Commissioners will review and consider the comments and address the service changes and effective date during the board meeting Monday, March 21. The meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Memphis Public Library at 3030 Poplar Avenue.
