MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Lakesha Jackson and her four children live in Raleigh. Because there was no primary care heath center in the area, she usually had to drive to Frayser for healthcare treatment.
Now, the brand new Christ Community Health Services Center will provide Jackson and her family easy access to first-rate healthcare.
"I think that it was wonderful and it was great," patient Lakesha Jackson said. "I'm glad that it's here. I brought my two boys here and now this is where they come when they are sick."
The health services center is located right across the street from the Raleigh Springs Mall on Austin Peay Highway. It will offer services to at least 5,000 patients every year.
More than half of Raleigh residents live at or below the poverty line. The health services center has a plan in place to provide necessary healthcare to everyone, regardless of income.
"So based on patients' ability to pay, we slide those fees to get it proportional to their income," Christ Community Health Services COO Lance Luttrell said.
The health services center will offer everything from medical and dental services to adult primary care, pediatric and women's services. These are services Jackson plans on using.
"Good doctor, good people. Nice and comfortable here, and there's no wait so I love it," Jackson said.
The center also offers behavior health and HIV care and testing.
